Patricia Fares O’Malley, Ph.D. received a Masters degree in Developmental and Counseling Psychology and was named to Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. She was subsequently awarded a scholarship to study Gerontology at the Ethel B. Andrus Center for Aging at the University Of California in Los Angeles. Inspired by this course of study, she published her thesis entitled “Widowhood and Support Systems”. Pat has subsequently written and published articles on grief, coping skills, relationships, family issues as well as being a monthly feature columnist for Sedona Magazine. She is also the author of the book entitled Healing the Love Wound: Relationships after Divorce, published in 2008 and Stale Roses, her first novel published in 2010.
She received her Doctorate in Mind/Body Psychology in 1998 and focused her studies on the power of the human mind; which inspired her further work with cancer patients and individual groups and eventually became the subject of her dissertation entitled “Exploring Guided Imagery As A Healing Modality”. Her doctoral research opened the way to create and perform the award winning audio tape meditation series entitled “The Power Within” which is marketed internationally and carries her message of healing through guided imagery and sound.
Her expertise in grief work and her interest in the field of human development drew her to hospice work, where she was Spiritual Care and Bereavement Coordinator for 5 years. This opportunity allowed Dr. O’Malley to come full circle in her understanding of end of life issues and has provided her with a renewed perspective of hope and healing for the human condition.
Since that time, she has created, designed and taught her own programs, workshops and seminars worldwide focusing on development of stress management strategies, through the use of meditation techniques and particularly Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Therapy ( MBSR) - which she incorporates into most of her healing strategies for emotional and/or physical pain management. Accordingly, she has developed a very successful healing protocal using The Emotional Freedom Technique ( EFT) with meditation and visual imagery.
Well known for her humor and energy, she is a popular presenter for groups and organizations around the world. Pat has participated as a speaker at women’s conferences throughout the United States, including the National Organization of Nurse Managers, Midwest Secretaries Association, Conferences on Women and Health and was honored to be chosen as the training faculty for the National Association of Separated and Divorced Catholics at their leadership conference in Los Angeles California.
Respected for her knowledge and expertise, Pat acts as consultant on various aspects of stress management and wellness for corporations, hospitals and fitness organizations such as the East Bank Club in Chicago where she was instrumental in developing the LifeStyle program for health and wellness. She has consulted with and is proud to be a part of creating wellness incentives for many businesses and Health Spas including The Grand Geneva Resort and Spa in Lake Geneva Wisconsin, Signature Scents Aromatherapy programs, The Flossmoor Wellness and Day Spa, Health Care at Home and Gem Care Services, Body Biz, Inc in Chicago Illinois. She is presently a collaborative partner in the New Perspectives Leadership organization, a consulting, training and leadership team building company.
She has been a prominent keynote speaker for hospitals, wellness organization and corporations around the country, including The Association of Humanistic Psychology, various Cancer Support Centers such as Faye’s Light in Hazelcrest IL , Little Company of Mary Hospital in Chicago , and most recently at Rush University Hospital of Chicago Cancer Survivor Day. She was also a featured speaker along with Caroline Myss, at the “Healing the Wounded Healer” Conference on the island of Crete in Greece and was honored to present with Gregg Braden at the ancient site of Machu Picchu in Peru. She has assisted on staff as a speaker for the National Guild of Hypnotist Convention in Massachusetts.
Most recently, Pat has the honor to be named one of the Most Notable Women in America. She has received the Who’s Who in the Social Service Field for the past 10 years. Her outside affiliations include the American Counseling
Association, Association of Humanistic Psychology, The American Board of Hypnotherapy, National Guild of Hypnotists, National Hospice And Palliative Care Organization, National Association of Professional Women and is, also a National Certified Counselor and Certified Hypnotherapist, as well as being trained as a massage, bodywork and CranioSacral therapist. Pat has been a psychotherapist in private practice for 30 years and a Hypnotherapist for over 22 years. She has developed a thriving hypnotherapy practice to help clients heal through the power of the mind. She teaches meditation, guided imagery and hypnosis classes and is a Certified Pain Management Specialist – working with issues of chronic pain and disease and has taught HypnoBirthing to couples who want to experience natural childbirth. Pat's passion is working with mind/body issues through the power of hypnotherapy. When working with clients she employs the powerful experience of Regression therapy, the transformational healing of Life Between Lives Hypnotherapy and physical healing using Somatic Healing techniques.
